Chicago: Winter Storm Could Bring Heavy Snow By Christmas

The Chicago weather forecast this week shows a powerful winter storm that is likely to dump upwards of a foot of snow before Christmas.

The National Weather Service has issued a Winter Storm Watch for the whole Chicago location and northwest Indiana from 6 p.m. Thursday to six a.m. Saturday.

The modern-day forecast indicates the hurricane should start Thursday afternoon. As a wintry blend or maybe a little rain earlier than converting over to constant snow Thursday night.

ABC7 Meteorologist Larry Mowry stated that even as it is too early to speak of unique blizzard amounts. Early projections display the hurricane has the capacity to deliver upwards of 6 to fourteen inches of snow.

“The typhoon worst will hit Thursday night and last all day Friday,” Mowry predicted. And even Friday night time into Saturday morning we’re going to have a few difficult situations out there.

When the rain turns to snow will vary throughout the area, which could affect snow totals, according to Mowry.

High winds in excess of fifty-five mph are predicted at the same time as the heaviest snow is falling. Mowry also stated that he believes the Winter Storm Watch will be upgraded to a Winter Storm Warning.

“The issue may now not only be with the falling snow, but also with the blowing snow, which reduces visibility,” Mowry explained. And due to the fact the winds can be this strong, there can be the danger of electricity outages Thursday night time via the day on Friday.

Mowry stated the heavy snow and excessive winds will create main journey impacts, with “extraordinarily tough to not possible journeys from Thursday night time via the day on Friday.

Temps can even crash from teenagers on Friday to single digits over the weekend. With the excessive winds growing dangerously bloodless conditions. Friday will begin off with wind chills as low as -20 and -30, and could live properly beneath 0 via the day, Mowry stated.
