After purportedly leaking the teaser on social media site X, Rockstar Games eventually unveiled the Grand Theft Auto 6 (GTA 6) trailer on Tuesday, several hours ahead of schedule. As was to be expected, the trailer swiftly gained popularity on YouTube, receiving over 11 million views in the two hours after it was uploaded to the official Rockstar Games channel.

GTA 6: Confirmed Details and Platform Announcement

The video verifies a lot of the rumors that have been going around regarding the open-world game Grand Theft Auto 6. Many PC players were disappointed to learn that there was no information on the game’s release date or status on the platform.

Social Media Response and Gameplay Sneak Peek

“Our trailer has leaked so please watch the real thing on YouTube,” Rockstar Games stated on X, acknowledging that the trailer for the upcoming game had indeed been leaked.

The highly anticipated gameplay and map of the new game, which was teased in a gameplay video for GTA 6 that went viral on TikTok, drove the gaming world into a frenzy immediately after the trailer leak.

Introduction of New Protagonist and Game Setting

The first female protagonist in the GTA series, Lucia, is first shown in the trailer at the beginning and is seen in a prison. Later in the video, Vice City heists in the vein of Bonnie and Clyde are seen being carried out by Lucia and her partner.

In a GTA 6 statement, Rockstar Games said: “Grand Theft Auto VI heads to the state of Leonida, home to the neon-soaked streets of Vice City and beyond in the biggest, most immersive evolution of the Grand Theft Auto series yet.”

Financial Projections and Fanbase Anticipation

As per Bloomberg, Rockstar Games’ parent company, Take-Two Interactive, had earlier declared that it expected the game to generate $8 billion in net bookings by 2025. Surprisingly, the Grand Theft Auto series has sold over 400 million copies globally since its debut in 1997. The last episode of the series was released in 2013. The dedicated fan base of Grand Theft Auto is eager to see what the next game has in store because GTA 5 and GTA 6 were published more than ten years apart.

GTA 5 is the second-best-selling video game of all time, with over 190 million copies sold worldwide, according to statistics released by CNBC. The only game that has sold more than 300 million copies worldwide is Microsoft’s Minecraft.
