Purdue Wins 74-53 Over New Orleans Under Kaufman Renn

On Wednesday, December 21, 2022, Trey Kaufman Renn set the score of 74-53 at Mackey Arena. Purdue literally dominated New Orleans. However, Zach Edey was not present there at the Arena due to some illness. We missed him but on the other hand, the Boilermakers got better to 12-0 on the season. It’s amazing to see how Purdue pulled the victory over New Orleans even with Zach Edey. It was the very first game at Mackey Arena as the No. 1 team in the country. After making the most of his opportunity, Trey Kaufman-Renn stood out and led all scorers with a career-high 24 points on 8-of-10 shooting. Not just that but Kaufman-Renn also registered two assists, pulled in a pair of offensive rebounds, and made eight of his 10 shots out of the foul line.

The team is so proud of Kaufman-Renn and He deserves all this admiration. After Zach Edey was gone, it was really bad news for the team but Kaufman-Renn proved himself as always that when you do your best, you get the best results. Kaufman-Renn said, “There is kind of a rhythm that you get in the game, the feel of the game. We work on it every day, so I just did the same thing I do any other day.” Purdue coach Matt Painter said of Kaufman-Renn, “He has great footwork, He has the spin cycle there and does that reverse. He’s pretty nimble. For him, it’s a comfort level. He just has to get into a game and get comfortable quickly and that’s a hard thing to do coming off the bench.”

The Massive Comeback of Trey Kaufman-Renn After a Knee Injury

It was the right time so Purdue’s Trey Kaufman-Renn took advantage of his opportunity. Zach Edey who is the leading scorer was out because of an illness. Now Purdue has won 23 non-conference regular season games, and it is the longest streak in the nation. In 2020, Kaufman-Renn was named Indiana’s Gatorade Player of the Year. He’s one of the players that can give everything to push the team to victory. And now he proved just that. He got a knee injury in November. Kaufman-Renn had surgery. He totally recovered in March with his knee surgery. Now he gave all his strength this summer. He worked hard and improved himself even more. We can see the results.
